New Year, New Chapter

My annual ritual- watching the New Year’s 1st sunrise. Sitting in the dark, waiting for the first rays of the sun to breach the horizon gives me a sense of renewal and hope. My own spiritual practice, not associate with any religions. Now, I also capture its image too. Here is January 1st, 2020 sunrise. Continue reading New Year, New Chapter

Sunrise & Sunset

The New Year Breaks In the last couple of years I have made it a point to capture the January 1st sunrise and this year I managed to capture sunset as well.  It’s nice to wake up to a new year dawn albeit a moody dawn this year. It was a little too cold to wait out in the garden so I went out every 30 … Continue reading Sunrise & Sunset

Garlic! I fed them last weekend and they are doing well despite the up and down temperatures. This year I added Italian, Ukrainian, and German to my usual Siberian garlic. Siberian garlic seems to do well in my garden. #garlic #siberiangarlic #growyourowngarlic #growyourownfood #growyourownherbs #organicgarlic #growinggarlicorganically #herb #growinggarlic #backyardveggies #growyourownvegetables #organicveggies
More Hellebores! Hellebore is a great naturalized plant for the area that you want green year round. It’s easily self sow, cold hardy, need little care and a great pollinators food source in late winter/early spring. #hellebore #helleborus #springgarden #perennials #backyardgarden #pollinatorgardens #easytogrowplants #flowersforpollinators #coldhardyplants
This open-pollinated Hellebore bloomed for the first time this spring. As I mentioned in the earlier post: when you let nature do her job, you’re in for a surprise. #hellebore #helleborus #springflowers #perennial #perennialgarden #backyardgarden #springgarden #flowersforpollinators #pollinatorfriendly #openpollinated #organicgardening #pollinatorfriendlygarden #coldhardyflowers #coldhardyplants
Ok, it’s clean. I’ll take this one 😁Tree Swallows checking out bird boxes. There will be a fight between the Tree Swallows and the Bluebirds in the coming weeks since there are more birds than nest boxes. #treeswallow #migratorybirds #songbirds #wildbirds #backyardbirds #birdfriendlygarden #birdphotography #birdfriendly #birdbox #nestbox
It’s spring, over 50F and sunny. Do you know where your pruners and clippers are? It’s a time to prune roses when their buds just come out. I sealed the cut with lime paste to ward off insects that want to make a home in there. 19 roses are done, some more to go, then feeding time!#prunner #rosegarden #rosecare #backyardgarden #growingroses #growingroseorganically #rose #prunningroses #pruneroses #springgardenchores
Tree Swallows are here! The kids are home early this year so I have to shift my priority from pruning roses to cleaning our bird boxes. They need clean houses to raise their kids. 🐦 😁#treeswallow #migratorybirds #birdsofnorthamerica #backyardbirds #wildbirds #songbird #birdfriendly #birdfriendlygarden #birdphotography
