Nature has a way to surprise me. I monitor all nest boxes in the garden once a week to make sure that there’s no House Sparrow nest in there. What I found when I opened this nest box is a nest I couldn’t identify. After years of observing bird nest, I can easily identify many types of bird nest…but this nest is a mystery. Until a buzzing sound came out from the nest. A queen bumblebee decided to make a nest in there. Food…Asparagus finally came up. I wasn’t sure at first if they will come up since I added more top soil on them. The compost I put on annually was reduced down to a very thin layer in the raise bed so I added some top soil which I thought I might have buried them too deep in it🤔😬.
