These handsome guys are also back from wintering down south. I find it interesting that they are so tame. The first time I saw them, maybe two, three years ago, they were always up high in the trees. They would come down to the feeder only when I was at a distance. Once this year, a male let me get within a couple feet of him. Actually, it perched on the lens hood of camera. Had I had another camera with me, a photo of a beautiful adult male Rose-breasted Grosbeak perching on the zoom lens would be posted on this blog.

Anyway, that afternoon, one of them was picking on seeds at the feeder and I was on the right side of the camera. He allowed me to get close enough. As tame as this guy was, I didn’t want to get closer than ten feet. Disturbing his meal may make him feel unwelcome. I’d rather have him come to me like the Chickadees and Robins now do, than invade his space.
Haven’t seen any females yet. Maybe, she sent him to scout for a new home site.
