Walking In A Forest

Meditation On A Wet Day

Rain had taken hold in the early part of yesterday morning, then came the fog.  It was not a perfect day to take a walk in the woods but I knew there’s always something interesting to see no matter what the weather is.  Walking in the woods always leads me to a sense of calm, especially when foggy or right after a snow fall.  The quietness that envelopes everything makes the walk very meditative.

On a wet day like yesterday, there was only the sound of our feet on the path mingling with the gurgle of a small stream alongside.   And, this I found along the path…

Native ferns along a stream bank still green

Dry leaves hang from a branch

Bright yellow fungi

Bare branches against a foggy sky

A Red-tailed hawk kept an eye on us from a tree further away
